See chartbeat data overlaid on your site

Today we’re happy to unveil the latest gadget on chartbeat labs: Chartbeat for Google Chrome. It’s a Google Chrome extension that allows you overlay chartbeat data directly on your page, without having to leave your site. The chartbeat extension gives you the option of either seeing the page you are on or the site in full, with information about visits, referrers and engagement baked in.

Here’s a screenshot of it in action on avc.com:

Once installed you’ll see a chartbeat icon to the right of your Location bar. If it has a little grey question-mark icon, then you need to log into your chartbeat account. Once you are logged in the icon will show you a green square if you are on a page that you have chartbeat access to, whereas pages that you don’t have access to will show you a red square.

For Firefox and Safari users we also have a bookmarklet version.

  1. Love Chartbeat. Love it so much.

And… this is the most stressful Chrome extension imaginable! It’s so… huge! It stares at you, accusingly! I uninstalled it immediately.

I would perhaps prefer a wee little number that appears in the browser bar or some such. With a one-click toggle between site and page.

Let me again stress the depth of my love and affection for Chartbeat.

    • Hi Choire!

We thought you’d appreciate us giving it awl it’s got, but yes we have plans for more soothingly ambient expressions of chartbeat goodness.

Thanks for all the chartbeat love!

  2. The Chrome sidebar is pleasant in action, but as a Firefox user…

How about showing us Firefox users some love with a Greasemonkey script? That would be a bit more automated than the bookmarklet :)

    • Yeah, it’s not the smoothest experience in Firefox with a bookmarklet, we are well aware :) A Greasemonkey script could help, but really we should do a proper Firefox extension. We “just” need to find the time :)
